Crest of the wave

So - why have I chosen this as a name for the blog? I think probably because I love the water - swimming in it, walking by it.. There's something calming about the water. Whether it be walking around a lake, by a river or a canal..

I'm not really a great gym-goer, in fact, I don't go at all! I see it as more of a chore than anything else, and personally I can't see the point in prancing about and 'exercising' in a sweaty gym with simulated machines where nobody speaks to anybody else as they are so engrossed in burning the calories and listening to their music, but that's just me! Admittedly, I really need to burn off the calories, especially after all the over indulgence at Christmas, but I'd much rather go for a swim!!

I've never had any fear of the water, but respect is what you need, especially when you're swimming in the sea and the tide is going out.....

Taking the plunge

OK, well here goes... I created a blog over a week ago, and figured it was about time I started actually filling it in! I'll take the plunge and write something. While we're on water metaphors - I'll explain the 'crest of the wave' title another day... Seeing as I've taken this technological leap forward, I find myself asking what shall I actually put on here? Well - let's see what happens....

Towards the end of last year, I did an 'Introduction to Photography' course at 'The Cornerhouse' cinema in Manchester - an arty cinema that shows foreign films, runs courses, has a shop selling all sorts of weird and wacky arty books and cards... It all made me think - what is a good photo? Something subjective which might appeal to me, but not to you... Anyway - it made me take out my newly acquired digital camera, and start experimenting....

This morning as I left for work and the mist was starting to form, you might think - it always rains in Manchester. Well, that's not the case, and by the time I arrived at work, the mist was so heavy, I could hardly see the normally glistening domes of the Trafford Centre......
